Newport Shores residence: more space, light, style

Bringing new design life to a dated contemporary home was the goal of this homeowner. One special request: they wanted to highlight their impressive art collection.

Adding a front entry breezeway and porch addition perked things up considerably. So did a shed roof addition. In the vaulted-ceiling living room, the original stack slate fireplace has a modern vibe. Today, the dining room opens to the rear yard thanks to banks of sliding doors. A full-width Ipe deck allows access to the exterior from almost every room.

Of special construction note: Prestige was instrumental in resolving design challenges, including identifying ways to improve lighting. Along the vaulted ceiling, profile track lighting racks are laid out in a rhythm with the beam structure for dramatic illumination.
