Mercer Island residence: joyful kitchen for easy entertaining

Nothing brightens up a house like a well-designed (and certainly well constructed!) kitchen.

For a Mercer Island family interested in form and function, this new workspace is a complementary mix of refined and rustic: clear vertical grain Douglas fir casework, Absolute honed granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and floors of white oak v-groove plank.

Of special construction note: This joyful house was made for entertaining. The construction and installation of hidden pocket panels behind the bookcase allows for more privacy when privacy is desired—more open space when it isn’t.
